How are prices for translations calculated?

The price of a translation is calculated according to the number of translation pages. One translation page is composed of 1,500 characters without spaces. This is the most common method of calculation in the Slovenian space. The estimated price (quotation) based on the original source document is only an approximate value. The final price depends on the number of characters in the translated document.

At your request, we can also calculate the price of the translation based on the number of words. One translation page contains 250 words.

How long does a translation take?

We usually translate from 5 to 8 pages a day. Due to our quick response time and capable colleagues, we can do for you what other companies cant.

Do you charge extra for proofreading of translated documents?

No, all translations we do are proofread by an expert. All of our proofreaders are native speakers residing in the cultural environment the translation is intended for. So text is adapted to the business and cultural differences, or respectively to the target groups the translation is directed at.

I need a notarized translation. Does Alkemist do such translations?

Of course! Whenever you need a translation of an official document (such as an extract from the central register, a certificate of citizenship, a marriage certificate, various international permits or extracts from the court register), our sworn notarized interpreters translate your documents. We also deliver the documents to you.

Do you also do text design?

At our agency, we offer an entire range of services encompassing translation, proofreading, graphic design and print preparation.

Whats the difference between consecutive and simultaneous interpreting?

Consecutive interpretation is carried out directly after the speaker speaks during pauses between groups of phrases or sentences after the speaker has given a logical conclusion to a unit of words. It is carried out without the use of technical aids and largely through the help of notes with which the professional interpreter can also interpret up to five minute long fragments. The rhythm or length is usually agreed upon with the speaker in advance.
Regarding simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter simultaneously (between small pauses) interprets the spoken words. The entire process is carried out using microphones and headphones where the interpreters sit in sound-proof isolated cabinets. Due to the high degree of concentration required, at least two interpreters are required in the cabin.
